Bad Credit Cards

There are literally thousands of available credit cards on the market today. Although the credit card choices are somewhat limited for people with bad credit there are definitely options available. Let. s examine 2 different categories of bad credit cards.

  • Secured Bad Credit Cards. These cards are also referred to as pre-paid credit cards. As the names would suggest an individual secures a certain amount of money up front. For example, if a person pays the creditor $500 to use as a line of credit then they could make purchases with the secured card for up to $500.
  • Unsecured Bad Credit Cards. These cards are not backed up by pre-paid money. They are used like a typical credit card. The major difference is that the interest rates tend to be much higher and there are often higher fees that are associated with bad credit unsecured credit cards.

There are many companies today that offer credit cards for people with bad credit. If the trend towards increased consumer credit problems continues the industry should become even more competitive. Competition usually results in better rates and more benefits. Once a new bad credit card is attained the key is to use this resource wisely. If used responsibly and paid in a timely fashion it can be a good tool to help regain satisfactory credit.
